Should You Waive Time?

There may be good reasons to waive time and good reasons not to waive time.  Waiving time essentially means giving up one’s statutory right to a trial within a specified time period.  Issues that may effect time waiver options may include witness availability issues, client preparation, receipt of outstanding discovery and trial calendar.  Only an experienced criminal defense attorney knows whether a time waiver is helpful or hurtful to a criminal case.
