Pleading Guilty at Your Arraignment

One thing a criminal defendant should never do is plead guilty at their arraignment without the advice of an experienced criminal defense attorney.  The prosecutor and the judge are not your advocates and are not on your side.  The prosecutor’s job is to represent the “People” of the State of California….not you.   The judge and the prosecutor are not obligated to tell you what the collateral consequences of your guilty or no contest plea may be.
